What are rennets?
Rennets are small hamsters which are used for the production of cheese. Their skin is used as fur for clothes and because these animals are small, the people who work in the factories need to kill more of these rodents to obtain enough fur to sell more clothes.
How are they turned into cheese?
Rennets need to be boiled before they turn into cheese, so that they do not own any bacteria. Then their fur is taken away and the only thing left are the intestines and fat. When the rennets are skinless, they mince their parts and they sell it to the cheese manufacturers. These manufactures, add milk into a pan for coagulation process to happen and for the production of cheese.
Why are they turned into cheese?
Rennets are used because they are high in an enzyme called chymosin, they breed frequently (a mother can provide a litter of 10 babies every two months) and they reach maturity quickly (a rennet reaches puberty at 3 months of age). Because they breed so fast, more and more hamsters are reproduced and so, cheese production will increase too.
How to stop this?
We need to stop this animal cruelty and abuse by demanding these cheese manufacturers. People need to know they are eating hamsters everytime they buy these type of cheese so that they will stop eating. The ones who already know can eat any other type of cheese and maybe to join the campaign of saving these poor rennets. We all can join into these great cause to avoid the extinction and to protect these animals.
